Q & A
What is the venue like?
The Hindu cultural ceremony in the morning and the reception in the evening will take place at the Ganesan home in Pasadena, California. Both events will take place outdoors.
What should I wear?
Everyone is welcome to wear what they are most comfortable in, truly! The wedding party and family of the wedding party will be dressed in traditional Tamil attire for the morning ceremony. Many other guests will likely be dressed similarly or be wearing traditional attire from other regions of the Indian subcontinent. These include but are not limited to sarees and lehengas for women and veshti (dhoti) or kurta suits for men. Bright colors are encouraged. For the evening reception Western cocktail attire, Western business casual and Indian attire are welcome.
What shoes do I wear?
Due to uneven surfaces, the nature of being outdoors and in grass we encourage flat shoes that allow for balance and comfort.
What will the weather be like?
True to the desert that California is, we expect July to be hot. Therefore short-sleeved Indian clothing, lighter material, and sandals are encouraged in the morning. We hope our setup will provide adequate shade. People are welcome to find shade in areas around and away from the ceremony as needed. We want you to be comfortable. The night should be comfortable (fingers crossed). Southern California evenings can be cool despite sunny, warm days which you may want to take into consideration when packing your suitcase!
Where do I park during the wedding and reception?
There will be ample parking on San Pasqual St. and Meredith St. in Pasadena.
Where should I stay?
We recommend staying in or around Pasadena to be close to wedding day events.
How do I get from the airport to Pasadena?
We highly recommend renting a car if your budget permits. However, if you have any concerns or limitations in terms of transport, please let us know. Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is approximately 33 miles from Pasadena. Travel time varies between 45 minutes to 1 hour and 45 minutes thanks to the ever present yet unpredictable LA traffic. The Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) is much closer to Pasadena and therefore much more ideal. However direct flights to Burbank can be limited and prices are often higher than similar flights to LAX. Nonetheless, we recommend checking flights to both LAX and BUR just to be sure.
What should I expect for the cultural ceremony?
The traditional Hindu ceremony will start at 9AM with the groom’s entrance. There will be a wedding stage where the entire ceremony will take place. The ceremony itself is led by a priest with the help and participation of the bride and groom’s family. The ceremony generally lasts 2.5 to 3 hours and ends with a traditional South Indian vegetarian lunch.

What should I expect for the reception?
The reception will start with cocktail hour around 6:00 pm. Dinner will be served shortly thereafter. While we will not have a dance floor, we will have plenty of food and libations.
What about COVID-19?
We kindly request that all guests who attend be vaccinated and boosted for the safety of all. The event will take place entirely outdoors. We encourage people who feel comfortable wearing masks to please do so.
